Moving from the USA to Korea involves more than booking a flight.
Your belongings need their own moving plan.
How much will it cost? Which shipping option should you choose? Should you drop off your boxes or schedule a pickup? How should you pack them? And what happens after you arrive in Korea?
The process becomes much easier to understand when you break it down step by step.
From checking your estimated moving cost in the United States to receiving your boxes in Korea, here's how the entire moving process works.
- Start by checking your estimated moving cost.
- Choose 15KG, 20KG, My Size, or Suitcase according to your belongings.
- Select your moving date based on your U.S. move-out and travel schedule.
- Choose FedEx Drop-off, Standard Pickup, or Premium Pickup.
- If you're using 15KG or 20KG boxes, you can choose a Moving Kit for packing supplies.
- Pack, H-tape, and label your boxes before sending them.
- After returning to Korea, complete the required customs-document process.
- After customs clearance, your belongings proceed to final delivery in Korea.
Moving from the USA to Korea: How Does the Process Work?
When you're preparing to move from the United States to Korea, it can feel like everything needs to happen at the same time.
You need to prepare your flight, finish packing, leave your U.S. residence, send your belongings, arrive in Korea, prepare customs documents, and receive your boxes.
But your international move becomes easier to understand when each part is handled as a separate step.

Step 1: Check Your Estimated Moving Cost
The first step is to check the estimated cost of moving your belongings from the USA to Korea.
UC Moving provides several options depending on the type, size, and weight of the belongings you plan to send.
15KG
Get an estimate based on weight and check the available size and weight limits before shipping.
20KG
Get an estimate based on weight and check the available size and weight limits before shipping.
My Size
If you want to use your own box size, enter the required information and check the applicable size and weight requirements.
Suitcase
If you're planning to send a suitcase, check the applicable dimensions and weight before continuing.
Enter your moving information and review the estimated shipping cost.
Start by understanding which moving option fits your belongings and your moving situation.
Step 2: Choose Your Moving Date
After checking your estimated moving cost, choose the date you want to send your belongings.
Consider your U.S. move-out date and your travel schedule when selecting your moving date.
A simple timeline might look like this:
U.S. Move-Out

Packing Completed
↓
Moving Date
↓
Flight to Korea
Planning your moving date around your actual move-out schedule gives you time to finish packing before you leave the United States.
Step 3: Choose Your Shipping Method
There are three ways to send your moving boxes:
FedEx Drop-off, Standard Pickup, and Premium Pickup.
The right option can depend on how many boxes you have, whether you can transport them yourself, and how much help you need on moving day.
FedEx Drop-off
If you can transport your packed boxes yourself, FedEx Drop-off allows you to take them directly to an appropriate FedEx location.
Take your packed and labeled boxes to the location during its available business hours.
This option can work well when you have a manageable number of boxes and can transport them yourself.
Standard Pickup
With Standard Pickup, prepare your packed boxes at the designated pickup location.
A pickup driver visits and collects your boxes.
Because pickup drivers visit locations sequentially, it can be difficult to set an exact pickup time.
Consider your moving-day schedule and where the boxes will wait for collection when choosing this option.
Premium Pickup
What if you have multiple heavy moving boxes?
Carrying every box from your apartment to a lobby or pickup area can make moving day much more difficult.
With Premium Pickup, you can set a pickup time and have the pickup team come inside your home to collect your already packed boxes.
You don't have to carry multiple heavy boxes to the lobby or designated pickup area yourself.
This can be useful when you have many boxes, heavy boxes, or a difficult path between your residence and the pickup area.
Step 4: Prepare Your Packing Supplies With a Moving Kit
If you're sending 15KG or 20KG boxes, choose the packing supplies you need for your move.
With a Moving Kit, packing materials are delivered to your home so you can prepare your move without having to find everything separately.
Depending on your selected service, you can prepare the moving boxes, packing tape, printed shipping labels, label pouches, and other applicable packing materials needed for your shipment.
This allows you to start packing at home before your selected moving date.
Choose Your Service → Get Your Moving Kit → Pack at Home
Step 5: Review Your Moving Options and Apply
Before completing your application, review the moving information you've selected.
Check your service option, moving date, shipping method, packing supplies, and estimated cost.
Your review can look like this:
15KG / 20KG / My Size / Suitcase
↓
Moving Date
↓
FedEx Drop-off / Standard Pickup / Premium Pickup
↓
Moving Kit if Applicable
↓
Check Estimated Cost
↓
Apply
Once everything looks correct, complete your service application.
Step 6: Pack Your Belongings
When your packing materials and boxes arrive, start packing your belongings.
Arrange your items securely inside the box and prepare the shipment for transportation.
Before sealing the box, place a backup label inside.
This provides an additional way to identify the shipment if the exterior shipping label becomes damaged or separated during transportation.
Once the backup label is inside, close the box and prepare it for final taping.
Step 7: H-Tape and Label Your Moving Boxes
A moving box should be securely sealed before it enters the transportation process.
Use the H-taping method on both the top and bottom of the box.
Reinforce the center seam and both edges so the tape forms an H-shaped pattern.
Then attach the shipping label securely to the outside of the box so it doesn't come off during transportation.
The packing sequence is:

Place a Backup Label Inside
↓
Close the Box
↓
H-Tape Top & Bottom
↓
Attach the Shipping Label
Step 8: Send Your Boxes on Moving Day
When your selected moving date arrives, send your boxes using the shipping method you selected.
If you selected FedEx Drop-off, take your packed boxes to the appropriate FedEx location.
If you selected Standard Pickup, prepare your boxes at the designated pickup location for collection.
If you selected Premium Pickup, the pickup team comes inside your home to collect your already packed boxes.
At this point, your belongings begin the transportation process from the United States.
Step 9: Return to Korea and Submit Your Customs Documents
After you return to Korea, the next part of the process is preparing the required customs documents for your shipment.
Follow the instructions for your move and register the required customs documents through My Page.
Once the required documents are submitted, your shipment can proceed to the Korean customs-clearance stage.
Because required customs information can depend on the circumstances of your move, follow the instructions provided for your shipment when preparing and submitting your documents.
Step 10: Korea Customs Clearance and Final Delivery
After the required customs process is completed, your belongings move on to the final delivery stage.
The boxes you originally packed in your U.S. home can then be delivered to your destination in Korea.
The final part of the journey looks like this:
